Chiquilistagua, Nicaragua

Colegio Chiquilistagua

Just outside of Managua, LtN first partnered with the public school Colegio Chiquilistagua in June, 2011.  Located in a somewhat rural neighborhood, the school has over 1,000 students from Pre-K to 11th grade.

LtN’s lacrosse program has allowed the school to have their first ever PE program. Through the support of  Manna Project International, another non profit organization serving Chiquilistagua, LtN has been able to build deeper connections and be more productive from the start of our program.

Lacrosse PE Program

Students in grades 2-11 have class twice a week, each running for 45 minutes.  Before joining with Lacrosse the Nations, Colegio Chiquilistagua did not offer any classes of structured physical education.  Because of the school’s size, our two coaches are responsible for running classes for two separate groups, grades 2-6 and 7-11.  The life skills curriculum has been incorporated in each lesson, from respecting your teammates to leadership.

Coaches

We are extremely lucky to have two enthusiastic and energetic coaches joining our amazing staff in Nicaragua. Both have been working with our coaches and players from the School of Hope and organizing weekend pick-up games between the two schools!  Through the organization of Manna Project’s intern program, we have are able to staff the position of Program Director in Nicaragua for a year at a time!
