Lacrosse the Nations began as a simple conversation between Brad Corrigan and Brett Hughes in 2008 about the truest power of sports to bring people together all over the world regardless of age, background, ethnicity, language, etc. This conversation ultimately led to LtN’s inaugural trip in January 2009 to La Chureca, a community in Managua, Nicaragua where Brad had already been working for several years. Together, Brad and Brett founded Lacrosse the Nations, on the belief that the game of lacrosse they were given growing up held the potential to bring joy, hope, and change into hard pressed communities enduring poverty.
Since this inaugural trip, Lacrosse the Nations has grown and developed through the passion and commitment of its team. This team is made up of lacrosse players, coaches, referees and enthusiasts from all over the country whose hearts have been engaged by this particular story in La Chureca, and a desire to see many more like it down the road. As a team, we are committed to working with one community at a time, one child at a time, in an attempt to alleviate the fracturing pressures of extreme poverty both domestically and internationally.
